Kihei (Hawaiian: Kīhei, pronounced [tiːˈhɛj]) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Maui County, Hawaii, United States. The population was 21,423 at the 2020 census. == Geography == Kihei is located at 20°45′33″N 156°27′26″W (20.759122, −156.457228). According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 11.7 square miles (30.2 km2), of which 9.3 square miles (24.0 km2) is land and 2.4 square miles (6.2 km2), or 20.44%, is water. It is considered to be the South Side of Maui, located on the leeward side of Haleakala.
